An excellent second half of the season saw Eusebio Sacristán’s Barça B storm up the Segunda División A table to finish in a very creditable third place which equalled the B team’s best ever finish with Luis Enrique in the 2010/11 season. It’s fair to say that it was a pretty strange season in the second division with only 25 points separating top and bottom in the table but Eusebio’s team earned 20 victories and 6 draws from 42 games to finish on 66 points just four behind champions Eibar. I have to admit I was wrong about Eusebio who has thoroughly deserved to be kept on in the job for another season. The results have been achieved with the youngest Barça B side for a few seasons and there is a lot of hope for the future of players such as Sergi Samper (19), Jean.Marie Dongou (19), Alejandro Grimaldo (18), Adama Traore (18) and the up-and-coming star Munir El-Haddadi (18) who has just started to break into the team. With Luis Enrique believed to be a strong supporter of youth development, all these players, and more, could well be given first team chances next season.
